Trauma-Informed Pedagogy and the Faculty Role by Dr. Jennifer Barr, Professor of Business Studies, Marketing The impetus for offering this workshop emanated from an NYU Faculty Resource Network Winter 2023 seminar entitled “Trauma-Informed Pedagogy: Somatic Practices, Discussion Guidelines, and Community Dynamics” facilitated by Catherine Cabeen from Marymount Manhattan College which I attended in January. The goals of this workshop are much narrower and include heightening faculty awareness about the topic as well as conveying strategies for supporting students who are struggling with personal and/or systemic trauma that impedes their ability to learn. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences as well as techniques for addressing.
